Our PhD student, Andrea Tadić, along with her supervisor Igor Ružić, and Nino Krvavica, members of the 4SeaFlood project team, have published a new research paper titled “Coastal Vulnerability Index for the Indented Coastline of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, Croatia.”
The study explores the vulnerability of the coastline in this region, focusing on a Coastal Vulnerability Index (CVI) assessment. By analyzing the highly indented 1235 km coastline of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, the research incorporates key variables such as geological setting, coastal slope, significant wave height, coastal flooding, and beaches.
Key finding? Almost a quarter of the coastline is highly vulnerable to coastal flooding, with inhabited areas among the most at risk. This analysis is critical for regional spatial planning and climate adaptation strategies.
