🌊 SCACR 2025 – 11th Short Course / Conference on Applied Coastal Research, Dubrovnik
Last week, our research team members had the opportunity to attend SCACR 2025 and present their ongoing research. Suzana Ilić, Ivona Petković, Marta Marija Gržić, Igor Ružić, and Damjan Bujak contributed with four presentations and one poster.
As a result of our ongoing research within the 4SeaFlood project, we presented two key topics at the conference:
Tide–surge interactions along the Croatian Adriatic coast – We analyzed distinct aspects of tide-surge interaction with three different methods, finding that while tides and storm surges generally occur independently, the possibility of interactions cannot be fully dismissed, especially during extreme events.
Joint occurrence of extreme waves and storm surges along the Croatian coast – With the analysis of the correlation and co-occurrence between the extreme storm surges and waves, we demonstrated the importance of seasonal distributions of extremes. Our analysis identified coastal hotspots that should be prioritised for compound flood analysis and adaptation planning.
It was a pleasure to meet researchers from around the world and exchange ideas on coastal hazards and adaptation strategies. Thanks to the organizers for a well-organized and engaging conference.
