The project explores how <strong>storm surge, river discharge, sea waves, and intense rainfall<\/strong> interact to produce coastal flooding, combining <strong>statistical analysis, machine learning, and numerical modelling<\/strong> to support risk assessment and climate adaptation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Process and analyze multi-source <strong>hydrometeorological datasets<\/strong> (storm surge, waves, river flow, rainfall).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop <strong>statistical workflows<\/strong> for joint probability and scenario definition.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set up and run <strong>hydrodynamic models<\/strong> for tidal\u2013fluvial and coastal domains.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conduct <strong>spatial analysis and mapping<\/strong> in <strong>QGIS\/ArcGIS.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Evaluate present-day and future <strong>compound-flood scenarios <\/strong>under climate change.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collaborate within an interdisciplinary team and with partner EU groups during <strong>short research visits<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>PhD in <strong>hydrology, oceanography<\/strong>, <strong>coastal engineering,<\/strong> or a related field.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proven experience in <strong>Python and\/or R<\/strong> for data analysis and modelling.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Background in <strong>numerical modelling<\/strong> (coastal\/river) and\/or <strong>GIS<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Familiarity with time-series analysis, extreme-value methods, or tidal\u2013fluvial dynamics is a plus.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Comfortable with version control and reproducible workflows; strong written and spoken <strong>English<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>We Offer<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A role in a <strong>high-impact study<\/strong> with direct relevance to climate adaptation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Gross salary:<\/strong> <strong>\u20ac55,000<\/strong> for 18 months <em>(approx. \u20ac1,800 net\/month, depending on
